Illness & Infection
If your child becomes ill during the school day you will be contacted and asked to collect your child from school. Please have an “emergency” carer organised for the school to phone should we not be able to contact you.
This list below shows the exclusion time from school for some of the more common infectious illnesses. Should your child contract one of these, please observe the exclusion periods and advise the school immediately.
| CHICKENPOX | until fully recovered or for at least 5 days after the eruption first appears. Note that some remaining scabs are not a reason for continued exclusion. |
| IMPETIGO (SCHOOL SORES) |
Exclude until appropriate treatment has commenced. Sores on exposed surfaces must be covered with a watertight dressing. |
| MEASLES | Exclude for at least 4 days after onset of rash. |
| MUMPS | Exclude for 9 days or until swelling goes down (whichever is sooner) |
| PEDICULOSIS (HEAD LICE) |
until appropriate treatment has commenced, supported by a medical certificate when requested by the school. |
| RUBELLA (GERMAN MEASLES) |
until fully recovered and or for at least 4 days from the onset of the rash. |
| SCABIES | until appropriate treatment has commenced, supported when requested by the school by a medical certificate. |
We know you will understand that all open sores or wounds, no matter how minor, must be adequately covered with dressings whilst the child is at school.
